How do Canfit™ Lower Extremity Orthotic Design Applications Work?

  • Measurement data is taken: The clinician records circumferential, width, depth and height measurements at specific levels on the patient's lower limb. Digital photos of the patient's limb can also be taken.
  • Library shape is selected: Select a library shape from the software.
  • Measurement data is entered into the software: As you enter the patient's measurements into the software, the library shape is scaled interactively on the screen.
  • Import additional references: If you have access to your patient's photos, X-rays or MRI data, they can be imported into the software; this is useful to help identify important landmarks and areas requiring specific modifications.
  • Modify your shape Customize your shape using the extensive and powerful Canfit™ suite of design tools.
  • Shape is carved: Using your design, a positive mold is carved out of polyurethane, EVA, or cork.

What do I need to get started?

A Library: Standard features and design elements are built into library shapes, which gives you a starting point for your lower extremity orthotic design.

Canfit™ allows you to choose what shapes will become a part of your library:

  • Purchase an existing Canfit™ library to use with the design software, or if you have an existing library of shapes, Vorum can include these in a customer-specific digital library.
  • Create a new library. The experts at Vorum can work with you to create a custom library that suits your needs.
  • Finally, using a digitizer and Canfit™ P&O Design software, you can create a digital library from your plaster molds.
